pipeline lifecycle...

10/16/2004 12:18 PM EDT

Hi,

I was wondering if there is any documentation or if someone could provide me with a little guidance on the lifecycle of an opportunity in the pipeline function.

I come from a technical background and not a sales one, so i apologize in advance for my ignorance.

When i create a new opportunity, i put in some high level information, then add a component with more detailed information... Is the 'opportunity' generally equivalent to a project and a component generally equivalent to a phase/resource/aspect of the project?

The second question is whether or not it would be possible to make the opportunity optionally flow into a project once it's won (a little 'create project?' checkbox somewhere on the opportunity/component detail screen would be the idea). In our case, as a consulting company, every sale is a project...so i would be nice to associate the sale to a project to a plan/resource/timeline.

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Bob

We are also a consulting company Warsaw based (Poland) and using Centric in a little different way :)

To have it clear - Project tab is a Project Mgmt Program included in CRM so I think it's better to separate it from a sales process (that's what we are doing - starting Project in a Project tab when the contract is signed, not before - All activities before are linked to an Opportunity - we treat it as a potential project)

At the moment when Project starts all activities that are associated with it should be added in a Project tab.

Ps. Still on a testing stage, so may not be right.
