This will be addressed in latest release of Centric CRM, 5.0. You will see a more robust email functionality as well as improved Outlook plugin integration in the release.
Would also suggest looking at integration with other opensource soultions for messaging.
We are currently looking at integrating with Zimbra... No need then for outlook...
