Description
Incorrect words/terms:
One of the features in 4.0 is to be able to support multiple languages at the same time on a single Centric CRM .war instance. However, with the introduction of this feature, a strange bug is now evident, although nearly impossible to duplicate.
What happens, is that over-time, an instance of Centric CRM will sometimes fetch an incorrect label when displaying Menu Names, Sub Menu Names, JSP labels, etc. I have seen this personally on demo systems and customer systems. Sometimes this takes weeks to produce itself, and a simple restart of Tomcat fixes it.
Background: When a user logs into Centric CRM for the first time, the dictionary_en_US.xml is loaded into the ApplicationPrefs object. This class maintains a hashmap for each language loaded, so that if multiple systems (like an ASP server) use the English dictionary, it only gets loaded once. The dictionary used to be stored in the SystemStatus object in which an unlimited number of ASP sites would independently be storing the English dictionary (increasing overhead).
Prior to moving the dictionary to ApplicationPrefs from SystemStatus, this bug was never reported or seen.
Solution
Labels now are storing as strings not XML nodes.

Please assign this bug. It is expected that the developer might not be able to duplicate this issue, but that the developer can trace through looking for anything that might be causing this, perhaps rewriting the cache system. Over time, why does the demo server display the completely incorrect term? For example: "Dashboard" instead of "Add accounts", etc. As this gets worked on we can install fixes on the demo server which appears to reproduce this the quickest. |
