Migrate from/integrate with CRM

7/12/2007 9:52 PM EDT

As I've been using Centric CRM primarily for its Team Elements components, I am wondering where one might start to determine how to migrate from and/or integrate with an existing CRM installation.

Obviously I don't want to lose or re-enter all the data that is currently in Centric CRM.

Hi Andrew,

Are you using Centric CRM or Centric Team Elements? If it's Centric CRM you're using, what is the goal, getting information out of Centric CRM to migrate to another CRM, or vice versa? Do you want to do this once, or have some sort of real-time integration where information moves back and forth freely?

This is potentially a pretty complex situation that might need a little more talk to figure out exactly what you want to accomplish before we look seriously at what direction to take.

But luckily, our database is available to you, as is the schema and lots of technical information. We also have a great API, so even if what you want to do is complex, if you really want it, it should be do-able.

Tom, I am using the project management components of Centric CRM but would like to use Team Elements and am wondering what it might take to migrate the data from Centric CRM to Team Elements. AP

Andrew,

Although CCRM and CTM use almost identical infrastructure and share a lot of database concepts and other internals, they are still very different. TE is not a CRM, and lacks the CRM features of CCRM. In particular, it does not have a concept of an Account and all that infrastructure. If you are only using the project management functionality of CCRM and not any sales force automation, marketing, pipeline, leads management, etc., it might be possible to migrate, though we've never tried it to my knowledge. If you are linking projects to accounts, it will likely be more complex.

Can you give me a better idea of what you are using and how?

We have plans for a true integration between Centric CRM and Team Elements in the future, so you'll be able to get the best of both worlds.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your responses. I guess it was indications that some aspects of CTM are being used in CCRM that suggested to me there might be a migration path to CTM for those components.

I've been using CCRM's project module primarily with plans, documents and discussions. Yes I have linked projects to accounts. And I have been using the contacts module where contacts may or may not be linked to accounts. But I have not used leads, pipeline, etc., the marketing and sales components of CCRM.
