(1) A project Calendar that shared by the team. Team member should be able to add events to the calendar.
How to use the existing Calendar widgt? I couldn't find anything about it.
(2) Would it be great to give people the option that documents have to be checked out/checked in to modify?

What I can do is put together a specification for the calendar and checkin and checkout feature to get this moving along. The spec will detail the tasks needed to complete the project and an estimate of time.
Can you or others suggest functionality?
Would anyone be willing to contribute on these features? code or contribution?
Given some thought, if the calendar had a way to add: Milestones, Meetings, Events, and visualized the Activity dates, I think that could be quickly done.
So per project, display that information (maybe other information later like ticket assignment due dates, etc).
The milestone is a new entity.
The meeting is a new entity, with participants and recap of meeting.
The event is a new entity.
The activity comes from the project plan.
Would want a rollup of upcoming calendar items.
When a document is checked out, I suppose it needs an override. Any other related issues with checkout/checkin?
