I'm really confused about the whole issue of calendars for groups. Hoping someone with a CentricCRM point of view can give me some advice.
We are currently testing CentricCRM 4.1 beta 10. No Exchange server or other company-wide shared calendar yet. Maybe 60%-70% of our users are Outlook people, the rest are using a variety of things on Windows and Macs (no Linux I'm aware of).
We have a serious need to get a group calendar system. There are about a hundred people all together and it seems like half of them are on the road at any given time so scheduling meetings has become a serious challenge.
I've heard about XC Connect, Zimbra and Open Exchange which all appear to be full-featured alternatives to Microsoft Exchange. How would these things interact (would they?) with the CentricCRM calendar? I understand the CentricCRM calendar publishing function is a read only file so does that mean the CentricCRM tasks, assignments, or whatever would be "pulled" into the other system or into individual desktop clients?
Would either of the three I mention above, or any others, work better with CentricCRM?
On another calendar-related note, I have Mozilla Sunbird and Lightning installed on my computer. I use Thunderbird for my e-mail client and was hoping to get my CentricCRM calender into Thunderbird. When I click the link on my CentricCRM home page under the calendar all I get is a warning that it might not work on my computer. What is the URL I should use to get the calendar? Why doesn't it show me the proper URL in the warning dialog?
Thanks in advance for any help.
