changing servers

10/20/2006 10:44 PM EDT (edited)

I am not a very experienced user of CentricCrm, but I've tried it and I'm happy with it.

I just changed my domains from server to server (with hosting providers, so I don't have all the control there) and the backup made by the Control Panel seems to ignore the PostgreSQL databases (the server are linux Cpanel bases).

Now I have the previous domain in the new server and the Centric Database on the old server.

When I try to access the CentricCRM on the old server (just with the IP address) I get the new installation screen.

When I try to access the CentricCRM on the new server, I get the same new installation screen.

I'm not seem to be able to make a backup for the PostgreSQL database (I can more or less view it, but always get messages of not being an authorized user), and in the case I could do it, I'm not sure what has to be done.

So anybody has this type of experience? I would be happy to know if there is a trick to access the old CentricCRM system using the IP address, in a way like this:

http://255.255.255.255:8080/centric

But this seems to check the domain name and if it is not the same of the one installed, it starts with a new installation.

Or a way to backup the PostgreSQL database and transport it to the new server.

Do I have to follow all the new installation process and then transport the database, or transferring the database makes the installation process unneeded?

I hope somebody here has an idea.

Thanks!
